Design systems & accessibility

We build design systems that teams prefer to use over working around, and run accessibility audits that end in shipped fixes, ready for the European Accessibility Act.

Why it matters now

Since June 2025, the European Accessibility Act requires most consumer-facing e-commerce in the EU to meet accessibility requirements. An audit is the easy part. The hard part is fixing hundreds of findings without stopping product work, and making sure new features don’t reintroduce them.

Our approach

We fix at the component level. When the design system’s button, form field or modal is accessible, every page that uses it improves at once. At Martinus we owned the company-wide design system and ran an end-to-end accessibility audit, then implemented the fixes and the practices that keep them in place. We’ve written up the method.

Good fit if

  • You’ve had an audit and are now staring at a long spreadsheet.
  • Your product has three slightly different versions of every component.
  • You sell to consumers in the EU and need to meet the EAA.
